Paul O’Sullivan has 30+ continuous years of experience in the field of thermochronology. The focus of his masters and doctoral research was the thermal and tectonic histories of the Alaskan North Slope. From 1994 to 2000 his research for the Australian Geodynamics Cooperative Research Center (AGCRC) involved using low-temperature thermochronology to constrain the thermotectonic history of regions of the Australian continent.
Today, his primary research interests include the application of fission track thermochronology to constrain the rates of development of mountain belts, and the thermal history and hydrocarbon prospectivity of their associated sedimentary basins. In cooperation with others, Paul has been involved with projects in many parts of the world including Alaska and various other parts of the USA, the Coast Ranges of British Columbia, Australia, China, Irian Jaya, and many other areas.
